On Thursday March 24th, Fifth Avenue Baptist Church took a major step in its 129 year history as it completed the sale of its campus on North Fifth Avenue. This decision was taken after months of prayerful consideration of how to be good stewards of the tithes and offerings that we have received. The cost associated with aging buildings built for a congregation of 800+ had become a burden rather than an asset for ministry for many years.

The church commissioned the trustees to seek out opportunities to lease or sell all or part of the buildings on Fifth Avenue. After seeking out multiple opportunities, it was the recommendation of the trustees to present to the church the offer brought by Trinity United Methodist Church whose property is adjacent to our campus and with whom we have had a joint Thanksgiving service every year since the founding of both churches.

Trinity United Methodist Church has agreed to purchase our property for $925,000 paying $100,000 down and Fifth Avenue holding a note for the next 20 years. In addition, Fifth Avenue will be allowed to continue worshiping and ministering in the building for the next two years rent free.

Over the next two years we ask that you join us in prayer as we discern where God has called our congregation. At this point we are open to exploring the option of building or moving to an existing building. We are excited for the opportunity to devote more of our tithes and offerings to taking the Gospel to a dying world and sharing the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ.

Soli Deo Gloria
